Welcome to A Touch Of Pink, your home for all that is fun and a little bit gay in the world of trash pop music. More gays tonight including Jimmy Somerville, Sam Smith and DragPalace, plus an amazing Dragon cover from Kimberley Davis, the Nick Jonas song before Jealous, and another UK girl who is destined for her 15 minutes of fame, Florrie.

My Single Of The Week is ‘Speak no evil’ by Kimberley Davis. Kimberley is an American lady with a diva-type voice doing a cover of the New Zealand band Dragon’s hit from 1985. Her version captures the rock and dance nature of the song, and the video is worth a view or 2 (see below).

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 6-7pm for a bakers dozen of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have I seen lately?

FILM: Into The Woods : Yes, the Stephen Sondheim musical, with an amazing cast (google it) and they all used their own voices. Now, is it a musical, an opera or somewhere inbetween? Probably the latter, but it is also quite a dark piece, as it is based on some fairy tales, that are quite dark in tone. So, apart from a few laughs (just a few), this is more dark than light, and it’s probably not for everyone. Still, these productions tend to find their own market, and the only people that walked out (about ¾ through) were 3 young girls sitting next to me who ate, talked and texted their way through. I was happy to see them leave so I could concentrate on enjoying myself. I did shush them but it made little difference. Kids today, eh?

Dick’s Top 5 Videos This Week

Sam Smith : Like I Can (I love a video in black and white)

Florrie : Too young to remember (acoustic version)

Nick Jonas : Chains (need an excuse for some man candy?)

Aloe Blacc : The Man (Elton John sampling song)

Paul Rudd : Trust in me (ballad version, such a beautiful song)

COMEDY BONUS : How to sing Sia’s “Chandalier”song.
