What have I seen lately?

Film : Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel : All the stars are back in this 2^nd instalment of the feelgood movie, about a group of UK Seniors going to live out their lives in a rundown hotel in Indian. In this movie it’s centresd around Dev Patel, the manager/owner who is getting married, so there’s lots of colour and movement and Bollywood flair. If you like that sort of thing which we do, it’s a lot of fun.

Film : Love Is Strange : We saw this in Chicago last year, but as it’s starting here in Melbourne soon, this is a reminder to go see it. It’s a beautiful film about a mature gay couple who get married then fiired from their jobs when they find out they’re gay. As money becomes a bit tight they have to go live with their families, which turns out to be not an easy thing to do. A little sad at times, but such a great film.

Film : Eastern Boys : I must admit this film frustrated me in the beginning, because it’s about a Frenchman who arranges a date with a cute eastern boy at a railway station in Paris. Unfortunately the boy’s friends turn up instead and trash the joint. Fortunately karma visits and payback really is a bitch. I love a happy ending, and this is quite an intense film, but worth the journey.

Film : A Little Chaos : Loved it loved it loved it ! This is a new very “British” french film with Kate Winslet, Alan Rockman etc, about the landscaping of Versailles, and the woman (Kate Winslet) who was responsible for designing and constructing a section of it. It’salso a love story about the romance between the head landscaper and Kate, plus some wonderful scenes with King Louis XIV. A truly sumptuous movie with scandal, and love and gardening. What more can on ask for?

Show : Sweet Charity : This was a stripped down and sexed-up production of the classic musical starring the remarkable Verity Hunt-Ballard. But really, all the cast, including supporting actors and dancers were excellent. You know all the songs, but they were given a dusting of and made to sound new again. Do yourself a favour …

Comedian : Bianca Del Rio : She’s rude, crude and very very funny. Beneath that gruff and harsh exterior I’m sure there beats a heart of gold. Politically incorrect, but if you enjoy laughing then Binca is the drag queen for you. Wonderful.
