Tonight we’re doing some old and some new and a new exciting new tracks from Years and Years, Stooshe, Andy Bell and the Pet Shop Boys (x2). Plus a couple of remakes of classic tracks “Missing” and “Weekend” and they’re both very good.

My Song Of The Week is “Let It Go” from Stooshe. Last we heard of them was in 2013 with some great singles (Love Me, Black Heart etc) and an album. Then quiet. They had a single, ‘Lock Down’ in January this year, and now ‘Let It Go’. I love ‘em to bits, such attitude and catchy tunes, two gay members, and hopefully a new album soon.

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 6-7pm for a bakers dozen of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have we seen around town this week ?

Royal Ballet ‘Frankenstein’: This was a filmed performance by the Royal Ballet from Covent Garden, and it was amazing. This is a brand new ballet, but based on the original Mary Shelley book rather than the Hollywood film version. A spectacular 3 Acts, over 3 ½ hours, and a homoerotic sub plot, because the “monster’ is in love with Victor Frankenstein (who created him then abandoned him) who is in love with Elizabeth. It all culminates in the last spectacular Act with the wedding of Victor to Elizabeth and the creatures make a fateful appearance. Just brilliant, and a feeling not felt since I saw Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake. Highly Recommended.
