Let’s Hear It For The Girls!

Welcome to another A Touch Of Pink, your show for tracks with a pop trash / remix flava and an emphasis on GLBTI content/artists.

This week it’s all about the girls. There are some great new tracks from some rather wonderful ladies, so let’s devote a show to some of the best. We actually start with an oldie from kd lang, then it’s all the way to the top with Tracey Thorn’s new “powerdance” track Dancefloor. Check out the playlist … it’s a dream.

Paloma

My Song Of The Week is an old song, made popular by Mama Cass, and now remade by Paloma Faith, to feature in car brand Skoda’s Karoq advert. As you know, I love a good cover, and when it’s a great song sung by a master such as Paloma, there’s nothing better.

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from  6-7pm for a whole heap (as many as we can get through) of fun tracks. Your host will be Dick.

What Have I seen recently ?

Film : A Quiet Place : An alien horror film, beautifully acted, amazingly sustained tension, and just enough jump moments to keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s pretty good, not quite the heights of Get Out, but fun for genre fans.

Film : The Party : Somewhere between a British farce and Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Wolf, the latest effort from Sally Potter (Orlando) is a quite vicious not very much fun, party. It’s got a wonderful script, superlative acting, and at 70 minutes, leaves you wanting more. Loved it!

Musicals : On May 16th Village Cinemas have a 6:30pm screening of the British Theatre production of An American In Paris, and the preview looks pretty good.

Dick’s Top Five Videos For This Week

Nicki French : Steal The Crown (super trouper)

Lisa Stansfield : Billionaire (still amazing if a little anorexic?)

Tracey Thorn : Sister (not Dancefloor, but very good, as you’d expect)

Samantha Fox : Hot Boy (yes, he is, in an 80’s porn star way)

Kylie Minogue : Stop Me From Falling

That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
