On today’s show we talk about Gay marriage, the 12 days of Christmas & the folk song with the odd presents. Gordon tells us about the origins of Carols by Candlelight in Melbourne in 1938 & Chris has already sung carols in Belgrave!
Australia gets an unwanted Xmas present in 1859 when rabbits are introduced. Also, Christmas Eve 2014 is the 40th Anniversary of Cyclone Tracy devastating Darwin! A huge number of people were evacuated down South and the city had to be rebuilt.
Phil talks about the origin of HTTP which is the underlying protocol for the web. We talk a bit about the Sydney to Hobart yacht race and the historical significance of Boxing Day. And of course, on Boxing Day 2004 a powerful earthquake under the sea caused a Tsunami that devastated Aceh, Thailand & many other countries.
And we ask…where are the bees? Is there a lack of flowering plants?
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
