Jennifer Salisbury and Mark Morand visited the Bent Notes studio to chat with David Moyle about an exciting project – 32 BARS – aiming for 32 new ‘Classic’ Jazz Tunes
Mark is aiming to compose 32 new Jazz tunes, perform and record them in 32 different venues (BARS), and involve up to 100 Melbourne musicians! (32 is a special number to this project – Mark notes that a classic Jazz Tunes is 32 Bars in length!)
The objective is to compose three new tunes each year, with a style that comes directly out of the Great American Songbook – the style of the classic jazz standards.
Hear Mark talk about his starting music on the Bassoon, before transitioniong to the Guitar, Piano and Saxes as well; and Jennifer chat about the joy of singing this style of music – especially the latest piece – Sprinkle On The Cake.
Jennifer Salisbury and Mark Morand were guests of Bent Notes on Sunday June 26, 2022
