BROAD’s Sonja Hammer speaks with the organiser of the Sad Grrrls Festival,Rachel Maria Cox musician and organiser of the Sad Grrrls Festival that has it’s full one day festival in Melbourne, Australia this Saturday from 2-11.59 pm.

‘Sad Grrrls Fest is back and it’s bigger and better than ever. Australia’s largest Female-Fronted music festival is bringing twenty-five acts together in a one-day event celebrating gender diversity in the music industry. Each act has at least one non-male (female, non-binary or gender-non-conforming) member, to contrast overall industry trends where women make up on average only 20-30% of festival line ups.’ from Sad Grrrls Website here.

‘Sad Grrrls Fest is an annual music festival celebrating gender diversity and showcasing some of the fantastic non-male talent in Melbourne. This year is the event’s first year in Melbourne, and we’re being hosted by our lovely friends at the Reverence Hotel.

ALL SAD GRRRLS CLUB EVENTS ARE SAFER SPACES – this means event organisers reserve the right to ask any to leave who is engaging in behaviour that may make other patrons feel unsafe. This may include – sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, fatphobic, wh*rephobic or otherwise bigoted language; dangerous moshing or dancing without regard for other patrons; touching others without their consent; and any other kind of risky or dangerous behaviour. Be good to each other and have fun.
