Your Weekly Guide to What’s Hot in Music

These are the tracks that people are talking about:

Title Artist Comment
Lean On Me (feat. Robinson)  Illy
  •  The Aussie artist Illy has explained that there is plenty of room for up and coming rap artists after his collaboration with kiwi artist Robinson. The new track has a real pop sound which we do not mind here in the studio.
  • The shift towards a pop sound did not got without scrutiny by the industry, but he has been quoted as saying “They are entitled to their opinion, but I’m entitled to not care at all about their opinion.” Love your work Illy!  He continues “I’m making this music because I love it, I think I’m good at it and I really believe in it.”
  • I am so excited about Australian hip-hop in 2019 – there is so much to celebrate with its unique sound and relatable lyrics.
 Lonely (with Jonas Brothers) Diplo
  •  With the premiere of their film clip timed with the release of their track on Friday – I really love how the Jonas Brothers are seen to ignore Diplo’s texts for this video, while Diplo is begging for forgiveness.  And you know if in doubt and the texts don’t work, then send a fruit basket – works most of the time.
  • This is the third single from the forthcoming country themed album for Diplo – under his new moniker and given name Thomas Wesley.  This is following the tracks Heartless and So Long.  The album is expected to drop later on this year.
  • If you want to check out the impressive art of this artists, he is set to perform on top of Sydney Harbour Bridge.  Absolutely nothing extra about that.  This is part of his long running relationship with Australia – in particular supporting up and coming artists.
 Good Thing (with Kehlani)  Zedd
  •  Who doesn’t love a good bouncy pop release – oh yeah I do!  Zedd has collaborated with Kehlani for the first time with the track Good Thing.
  • Zedd is in the midst of his Orbit world tour which is wrapping up next month.
