Professor Mark McMillan celebrates NAIDOC Week 2018 on JOY 94.9

Professor Mark McMillan is the Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellor Indigenous Education and Engagement at RMIT University. He joins Jacq and Dene to discuss:

  • the history of NAIDOC Week
  • indigenous education and engagement in higher education
  • growing up identifying as aboriginal and gay
  • the difference between ‘welcome to country’ and ‘acknowledgement of country’
  • the NAIDOC Week 2018 theme of ‘Because of her, we can’, and
  • what it means to be an Aunty in indigenous communities.
