1 in 7 women in Victoria will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, but as we know here at JOY, breast screening isn’t just for cis women, and while necessary to screen for cancers, it’s not exactly a comfortable experience.
The sooner cancer is found, the more successful treatment is likely to be, however many people put it off – but what if screening for cancer in the breast tissue could be done another way – with saliva (spit)!
Cat joins Rach & Dean monthly queer science segment as we find out what spit’s got to do with breast screening.
And we encourage everyone to get to know the normal look and feel of your breasts, so if you notice any changes you can talk to your doctor about them, and if you want to know more about breast screening, head to www.breastscreen.org.au
