While many of us are quick to see a doctor when we are physically unwell, we don’t always treat our mental health the same way. New research from the University of Sydney’s Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use has found that Australians are waiting an average of 12 years before seeking help for mental health and substance use disorders. And for some conditions, the wait is even longer.
