Believe in Bonnie
Veteran rocker, Bonnie Tyler, is shining a light for the UK in the Grand Final on Saturday.
Talking to press after her dress rehearsal, the Believe in Me singer explained where the song came from. “It was recorded in Nashville,” she said. “I sent a demo of snippets of my album to DJs to listen to… and someone picked up Believe in Me and asked me if I could do it in the Eurovision Song Contest.”
Tyler joked about why the BBC chose her to participate, saying “hopefully my loyal fans will text and vote for me.”
She also shared her love of all things Irish, describing a Boilermaker (beer and chaser) as “Lovely, you know. One of them will set you right up for the day.”
After breaking down when talking about her late mother, Tyler regained her composure, exclaiming, “I’m not going for the sympathy vote. I’m not on the X Factor.”
And finally, the big question: Why? “Apart from representing my country,… I’m doing it because of my new album. You know, let’s be fair, if you’re in business you take the opportunities,” Tyler honestly told the press.
