The MAD Wednesday crew fought tooth and nail with the rest of the station to be the lucky ones to chat to Orange Is The New Black’s “Big Boo”, Lea DeLaria ahead of her upcoming LIVE IN CONCERT show at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Thursday June 7th.

In this jam packed interview Dylan and Dean chat to Lea about everything from her style of stand up comedy and singing – starting out performing with her jazz-pianist father in nightclubs as a child – to her excitement about more actual butches and lesbians being cast in butch and lesbian roles.

The much loved and outspoken actress, comedian, musician and gay icon DeLaria’s live show is a mix of stand-up comedy and jazz tunes. Described as loud and brassy, Lea brings her very honest, gay comedic best to the stage, mixes it up with some jazz tunes (she has released 5 jazz inspired albums), and delivers a show packed with funny, enlightening and inspiring moments.
