Bristol-born, Nashville-based Yola burst onto the music scene in 2019 with her Grammy-nominated Americana/pop debut album, Walk Through Fire. She has recently released her follow-up album, Stand for Myself, which leans more towards soul/pop music. This fabulous woman chats to Katie on Zoom about the new album; being cast as the inventor of rock ’n’ roll, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming biopic about Elvis Presley; being an ally to marginalised communities; working with the great Brandi Carlile; and much, much more.
