Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix is more uplifting than ever!

Seventeen-year-old Londoner RIKA leads the additions this week with a huge track that’s all about kindness and love. The Serbian-Indian singer-songwriter has teamed up with California-based producer The Highester for ‘No Need’, which is RIKA’s debut solo single Its massive debut through Rolling Stone India has led to a glittery remix thanks to DJ and production duo Brunelle. We’re sure you’ll be wanting to dance along.

Rave Radio is James Todman and Brett Allen, two lads from the Gold Coast who have been making music together for a number of years. They’ve teamed up with American duo Gamble & Burke to take an 80s classic and make it their own. If you can’t hear ‘Life in a Northern Town‘ in ‘Carry You’, you probably need your ears checked. Don’t be surprised if you end up subconsciously singing along.

As we get to the end of the long journey that has been the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey, we continue yearning for uplifting stories from our communities. Alfie Arcuri has produced the goods with ‘Love is Love’, which moves away slightly from his ballad past. If you love the track in its studio form, you should hear the version that Alfie sang live in studio, available via JOY podcast. The song is lifted from his forthcoming album, which promises to be a ripper.

Ten years have passed since Scouting for Girls released their self-titled debut album. To celebrate, Englishmen Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and Peter Ellard have put together an album of ten new songs, which includes the boppy piece of pop perfection ‘Dancing in the Daylight’. We challenge you to put this on full blast and not take a train or tram ride with a heap of Dancing with the Stars moves, just like the duo in the video.

Cast your mind back to 2013, when Celia Pavey sang ‘Jolene’ on The Voice. You liked her so much that she ended up coming third, behind Harrison Craig and Luke Kennedy. She’s back, but this time as Vera Blue. And she’s making it big the world over. ‘Regular Touch’ is the latest from Perennial, which peaked at #6 on the ARIA album chart on its release. This legend is also selling out shows in the US and UK and has amassed over 50 million streams of her music. Watch this space – Vera’s on the rise!

To round out the week of music come house feels from British house bigness. Riton and MNEK team up with House Gospel Choir for a track that has Knuckles written all over it. You could hear ‘Deeper’ playing in a Docklands shed party revival, which is exactly why you’re hearing it on JOY.
