It’s a banger alert as Dutch DJ Tiësto, English hit-maker Jonas Blue and British singer Rita Ora team up to produce one of this year’s northern summer hits. ‘Ritual’ combines tropical house, a heap of clicking, keys galore and Rita’s sultry vocals for a track that is bound to make your winter-warmer playlist.
Out-and-proud singer-songwriter Alfie Arcuri is close to releasing a brand-new EP. The Aussie has just released ‘Same’, which was a finalist in the 2018 Vanda and Young Global Songwriting Competition alongside Amy Shark and CXLOE. If you want a piece of pop perfection all about a same-sex relationship, this is the song for you. We reckon you’ll be feeling it.
Guy Sebastian lost one of his close mates late last year, and instead of seeing the darkness around Luke Liang’s death, Guy has celebrated his life in his new single. It’s all joy and happiness in ‘Choir’ as the Voice coach calls upon the greatest choir and dancing crew to make life amazing again. Go ahead and clap along.
Singer-songwriter Ea Kaya has had her music streamed over 8 million times since she debuted in 2017. Don’t Complicate It landed in the daytime mix last year, and the Dane has just dropped another single that deserves commercial support. ‘Cruel to Be Kind’ continues the summery feel and has a hook that needs singing along to.
Hands up if you thought that Tasmania could produce electronic-house bangers. No? Thankfully you’re being proven wrong thanks to Damien Goundrie and out-and-proud Andrew Young. The duo, as Southlight, have decided to record an album, and ‘Love and Happiness’ is the first release from it. It features Red London, aka Reigan Derry, and belongs on the dancefloor … and your radio.
Relationships are a focal point for Katy Perry, who has released something new as a solo artist for the first time since 2017. About ‘Never Really Over’, Katy says: “All of our relationships – from first love, through failed love, to great love – all become a part of you, so that none are ever really over, and once you accept both the dark and the light, you may find that the darkness brought you to the light.” Amen.
