Professor Sharon Lewin from the Burnet Institute joins us On The Line to discuss the forthcoming Burnet Oration being presented by Professor Françoise Barré‐Sinoussi who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medical Research in 2008, for discovering HIV/AIDS over 30 years ago. We also have a chat about the Federal Government’s recent roll-out of research funding. Then, after 2.5 years, the SAM Project (Sexually Adventurous Men) – a collaboration between VAC and PLWAH (Vic) – finally announces the launch of their website www.downandirty.org – Matt Dixon, Executive Director of the Victorian AIDS Council joins us to discuss the project he originally commissioned when working for the Department of Health. Sex Worker rights and advocacy continue to be eroded in the state of Victoria according to Christian Vega and he explains why. And we profile the extraordinary work of Hudson Taylor IV, a champion wrestler who has founded www.athleteally.com – an organisation that aims to eradicate homophobia in sport.
