The Out Takes team turned against the law for this show and looked at films that explore how the law has been used to oppress and marginalise LGBT people.
Our guest was Fergus O’Brien (pictured)
, the director of AGAINST THE LAW, which screens this month as part of the Queer Screen Film Fest. We spoke with Fergus about his new film, and the way that it chronicles the kind of institutionalised disenfranchisement that the law can engender.
We also looked at some of the best queer films to document how the law has sought to marginalise LGBT people: think HOWL and VICTIM.
Essential viewing: Against the Law (2017, Fergus O’Brien)
Hungry for more: Howl ( 2010, Rob Epstein; Jeffrey Friedman)
