We are family!

Society & Culture

The definition of what we consider to be family is rapidly changing and expanding.

Today, we can now appreciate that the definition of family is as colourful as a rainbow, consisting of homosexual or heterosexual couples, single parents, bi-racial couples, de facto couples, unrelated individual living or sharing a common interest or goal…and the list goes on.

Who you consider to be your family is subjective and is never really stagnant. It can also change to include and exclude people throughout the course of your life.

For many people, families also include their much loved pets.

On today’s program, and as part of National Families Week, we explore how our own pets have played a huge role in our lives and our understanding of family.

Also coming up on Pets-A-Loud today:

–          We’ll preview our Pet of the Week,

–          Oz heads out on a brisk morning walk with The Lost Dogs’ Home’s dedicated dog walkers as part of National Volunteer Week,

–          And, we’ll have the latest events in our Dog Dates segment just before we wrap up the show.
