Going North to Arnhem Land

The Lost Dogs’ Home has close to three-hundred staff, across six shelters in three states. Their passion in providing care to lost, sick and injured cats and dogs and dedication to improving animal welfare can be seen in the incredible work they do in and outside of our shelters.

Today on Pets-A-Loud, we are joined by one of the Home’s veterinarians, Dr Caroline Cook, who has volunteered as a vet for two weeks in the Animal Welfare Program run by the East Arnhem Land Shire Council.

Dr Cook gives us an insight into the challenges the program has faced, and the milestones it has achieved with improving the welfare of companion animals in East Arnhem Land. To find out more about the Animal Welfare Program visit www.eastarnhem.nt.gov.au. If you are an experienced vet or vet nurse and would like to find out how you can volunteer, contact Dr Emma Kennedy.

Also coming up on Pets-A-Loud today,

  • we hear about how you can help the Home this winter in The Lost Dogs’ Home News Wrap,
  • it’s international Take Your Dog To Work Day and we cross over to Dog Adoptions area to with Kate about what the Home is doing for the day,
  • and, at the tail end of the program we give you dog-friendly walking trails in metropolitan Melbourne on Dog Dates.

Pet of the Week is the cuddly and adorable cat Sarabi (ID: 932113). Check out her profile at dogshome.com.
