Pets-A-Loud

War Animals

Animals, Pets

With the ANZAC Day centenary recently taking place, many Australians are reflecting on World War I and what it means to them.

Often the stories we hear are centred on the human experience, but on Pets-A-Loud today, we’re going to look at the impact of war on animals and the roles they played. From pigeons to horses, millions of animals were used in WWI on a scale never before seen. Sadly, many of them perished.

Joining us on the program to explore the role animals played and to express why he feels it’s important to remember them is Nigel Allsopp, the founder and president of The Australian War Animal Memorials.
