What’s it like being gay in North Korea? There aren’t many people in the world who can honestly answer this question. One of the world’s most secretive regimes, North Korea forbids all discussion of homosexuality.

Bizarrely, no laws exist specifically dealing with homosexuality. However, many defectors of the rogue state confess that, until they entered South Korea or the United States, they had never even heard of the concept of LGBTI people.

On this edition of Saturday Magazine, Macca is joined by freelance journalist Mark Skulley (of The Guardian, among others) as they discuss North Korea and the broader issue of human rights with Kaleidoscope Australia President, Dr Paula Gerber.
