Labor’s new hope for Prahran

When Neil Pharaoh moved to Melbourne, he soon found that as a young gay man, there was no better place to be than the inner suburb of Prahran. And asking the former convener of Rainbow Labor now, he’s still convinced that he’s onto a good thing.

There’s no doubting Neil’s energy. As a member of the Australia Labor Party for nearly ten years, his passion for social and legal equality shines through his talent for communicating.

But the young Labor hopeful has a battle on his plate. The seat of Prahran is currently held by the Liberal Party’s Clem Newton-Brown. On this edition of Saturday Magazine, Neil sets out his ambitious goals in a discussion with Macca and former Health and Education Minister for Labor, Bronwyn Pike.

Note: Clem Newton-Brown will feature on a future edition of Saturday Magazine.
