This week on Spoken Word, we interviewed Psychologist and Writer Meredith Fuller, OAM.
Meredith Fuller OAM (Order of Australia) is a psychologist, author, film & theatre maker. Meredith has written several books, and the latest will be out shortly, a free e-book to accompany the family violence film. Meredith’s e-book explores the types who may murder, what’s going on in relationships. Meredith has had a private counselling practice for over 35 years, and has consulted to organisations on topics including gender diversity, personality types, and psychology, her website www.meredithfuller.com.au
Meredith came on air to discuss her latest film and e-book project: www.home-truths.com.au 2022 Family Violence film & e-book with Mystical Dog Productions (Lesley Coleman & Rod Winning) ‘HOME TRUTHS’ film plus practitioner e-book that will include some short video interviews with Ray Mooney, Peter Quarry, Dr Jema Stellato-Pledger (Kiara Azira Stellato dir), Hazel Edwards.
Family violence is a scourge in our society. While it has become much more well known in the community, due to some horrific examples of extreme violence perpetrated particularly on women and children, it is not as well understood to be a universal problem. There are still many people – women, men and Gender Fluid – who suffer in silence, who believe they are alone and cannot get help.
Family violence can happen to anyone. All you have to do is love the wrong person. Once you open your heart and trust your loved one, you are in their hands. If they choose to abuse or misuse that trust, you may find yourself subject to intimidation, gaslighting, financial, emotional, physical and sexual violence.
It is rare that individuals have the courage or platform to speak up about their experiences. This film will stand up for some of society’s most vulnerable people and will help them take action.
