Louise Foletta is a landscape artist and teacher. She talks about her background, why she paints in watercolour and her broadbase of exposure to art and inspirations, especially when she was overseas. Louise is part of 2 exhibitions– Outstanding Women Artists at Media House Gallery until Jun26 and From the Fire at the Dax Centre in the Kenneth Myer Building at Melbourne Uni (opp Royal Melb Hospital) until 30 Oct. From The Fire is comprised of Artworks from Louise and other artists which expresses the emotions and trauma from the Black Saturday Fires.
Shane Grant from Metanoia Theatre and spoken-word poet Kylie Supski. Shane has done Theatre Lighting Design for 20yrs but recently formed Metanoia Theatre with 2 others—an artist run live performance space at The Mechanics Institute in Brunswick. Their latest production is 10CS about the 10the Ten Commandments until 27Jun. 10artists express one of the commandments each in their own unique space. Originally from Poland and now residing in Melbourne, Kylie is a performance artist and is doing the 5th Commandment–Honour your father and mother—questioning this traditional family structure in today’s world and the importance of respecting difference.
Circus Oz Artistic Director Mike Finch and Senior Artistic Associate Antonella Casella. They talk about how they got to be in Circus Oz, the collaborative process in putting on a show with all the talented performers, and the live music at the heart of it all. Their show But wait…there’s more is on until Jul 12. Mike and Nella tell how they started this show from scratch and opened in Melbourne a year ago and how it has evolved and matured since then.
