Singer-songwriter Georgia Fields, who is known as ‘Melbourne’s high priestess of disco-pagan pop’, came in to JOY on 14 August to chat with Katie Purvis about her new album, Astral Debris and its upcoming launch at the Toff in Town on 25 August. The delightful Georgia also performed her song ‘My Favourite’ live in the studio.
Georgia first came to public notice in 2007 with her independently produced EP Drama on the High Seas of Emotion. Since then she has performed at a string of festivals, provided orchestral arrangements for artists including Suzannah Espie and Olympia, spoken at music industry conferences, and composed the score for Rohan Spong’s 2016 film Winter at Westbeth. Her first full-length album, Georgia Fields (2010), was produced with the help of a grant from Arts Victoria and was named ‘Album of the Week’ by ABC Radio National and Melbourne’s Beat magazine.
