On Sunday 13 November Katie was joined in the studio by singer-songwriter Marcia Howard, who co-hosted for the second hour of the show. Katie and Marcia chatted about Marcia’s long career in music and played some of Marcia’s recordings and some of her favourite tracks by other artists, and listeners were also treated to an exquisite live performance of ‘Poison Tree’.

Marcia Howard grew up in south-western Victoria as part of a large musical family. As a university student, she began singing at the historic Emu Bottom Homestead before joining her brother Shane in the highly successful triple ARIA-award-winning band Goanna. Marcia then pursued a solo career, composing, recording and performing at numerous festivals, venues and theatres around Australia and across the world, including many appearances at her beloved Port Fairy Folk Festival.

Marcia has worked with some of the world’s best musicians, including Mary Black, Carlos Santana, Bob Dylan, Brian Kennedy, James Taylor, Peter Allen, Hothouse Flowers and the Chieftains. She was the first Australian female artist to feature on the highly respected CD series A Woman’s Heart, singing her song ‘Poison Tree’ with Mary Black. Marcia’s song ‘Angel Full of Grace’ was heard on the acclaimed ABC TV series SeaChange.

In 2016 Marcia was a contestant on The Voice Australia, where she was a member of Delta Goodrem’s team and made it to the ‘Super Battles’ round. Marcia has recorded three highly acclaimed solo CDs: Butterfly, Burning in the Rain and her latest release, Nashville Sessions. In 2011 she released a CD, Pearl, with her musical colleague Rose Bygrave.
