Playlists

Show 309

Pajama Party by Unit 3 With Venus. This first half of the show is from that 1994 compilation album, The Obscurity File, from Oglio Records – an American record company started in 1993 by Carl Caprioglio. They are well known for issuing compilations of rare 1980’s modern rock and new wave songs, many of which were previously unreleased on CD.

Tossin’ by Bouquet Of Veal. (this song was really offensive and I’m sorry!)

Buffy Come Back by Angel & The Reruns. It’s about Anissa Jones, the actress who played Buffy on Family Affair. She died of an overdose just after turning 18 and taking control of the money she’d made as a child star.

See You On The Other Side by Brian Briggs.

Ronnie’s Song by LAX.

Child Star by The Diodes. 1978 song that is also about Anissa Jones! She had quite the fan base back then… They are a Canadian punk band.

Urban Struggle by Vandals. Track #2 From their 1989 compilation album, Peace Thru Vandalism/When in Rome Do as the Vandals. They’re from Huntington Beach, CA.

Cowpunk by Scott Goddard.

The Rodeo Song by Bird & Macdonald.

At this Moment by Billy Vera and the Beaters. Released on their self-titled live album in 1981. Famous because of the tv show Family Ties…it was Alex and his girlfriend’s song. And the mother is a lesbian now…

Black Hole Sun by Chris Cornell. Request.

Aussies – lesbian & bi women

*+Red Shoes by Sea Stories. LGBTIQ because Robyn Clark of Sweet Jayne and Party Girls fame was the drummer. They existed from 1986-93. This is from their 1987 LP, To Light the Home Fires.

*+Ambiguous Girl by Sweet Jayne. Opening track to their self-titled EP from 1980. Featuring lesbian Cris Bonacci out front and lesbian drummer Robyn Clark…yes, she was in the studio with me last week!

*+A Song for Roly Poly People by Judy Small. From this Federal Court judge, former muso, current lesbian. For all of us who gain weight at the holidays…

*+Fear of Falling by Shona Laing. From her 1992 album, New On Earth. She’s an openly bisexual Kiwi artist.

*+My Brother by Tiddas. 1992 track to their first EP, Inside My Kitchen.  Lou Bennett started her musical career with her uncle’s band “The Shades”, before later joining Richard Frankland’s band “Djaambi”, where she met Sally Dastey and Amy Saunders—Bennett, Dastey and Saunders later formed Tiddas.  Bennett is a Yorta Yorta/Dja Dja Wurrung woman from Echuca. Her autobiographical show, Show us Your Tiddas, has scenes of her coming out to her family…I’ve not seen it so I don’t know how it went!

*+C’Mon Dolly Parton by The Topp Twins. A live recording from 1986. Kiwi lesbian twins…when I was in NZ in Oct, we drove through a town that had a massive mural of these two. It was bizarre.

Driven to Tears by The Police. Request.

Oh Father by Madonna. Request.

+Nothing has been Proved by Dusty Springfield & The Pet Shop Boys. Request.
Keep Your Hands To Yourself by Georgia Satellites. Released in 1986 as their debut single…also on the Coyote Ugly soundtrack. They’re American.

Heartbeat by Don Johnson. Intl hit for the Miami Vice star in 1986…it was Helen Reddy’s tune first, in 1983. Weird.

(I have no idea why this has pasted into the template with multiple fonts…it was all on Times New Roman when I began…)
