The G. L. B. T. I. and Queer Communities is a diverse bunch and within each letter of that acronym, a much maligned sector is those who proudly hold dear their Christian faith.
The Queer community write them off as “Holy Rollers” and as we will hear today, many are bullied and shunned by their Church and its parishioners.
It’s not just the Gays and Lesbians who are given a hard time. Today we will also hear from clergy who have been forced from their parish because they have publicly supported marriage equality and equal rights.
These stories first aired during a special outside broadcast titled “Freedom Of Spirit”. Funded by the Community Broadcasting Foundation and presented by JOY 94.9’s “Spirit Lounge” in conjunction with “Freedom 2 Be”– a network of LGBTI people from Christian backgrounds who have experienced condemnation, judgment and rejection from their church.
