TAIWAN: ASIA’S BIGGEST PRIDE EVENT

Asia/Pacific, News & Politics

Taiwan flagPride parades are an international symbol of LGBT celebration or demonstration.  They come in all shapes and sizes.  For the Asian region, there is one that is head and shoulder above the rest – which is also a symbol of their recent progress in LGBT rights.  This is Taiwan.

  • What makes Taiwan more progressive in LGBT rights than their neighbours?
  • How does Taiwan compare in the fight against HIV?
  • Will Taiwan beat Australia in the race to marriage equality?

To give us a look at Asia’s most LGBTI progressive country, tonight we spoke with

  • JOY’s own Shannon Power, currently in Taiwan for their massive Pride celebration with Gay Star News
  • Stephane, a gay doctor in Taiwan who works in the field of HIV

Broadcast: October 31, 2017
