Sometimes life gets hard. And it can be hard to know what the future might hold. But then you hear about tonight’s guest. She grew up in a cult, was raised in seven different countries, joined the Air Force and was forced out due to her sexuality. She lived out of her car and says she learned more about people from her jobs as a bouncer in a gay bar and a cable guy.

Her name is Lauren Hough and she is a New York Times best-selling author and essayist. Her latest book – Leaving Isn’t the Hardest Thing – is a series of extremely personal yet often humorous insights into a life that has been anything but ordinary.
