Musical Instruments
Hi Listeners
This week we are going to present a very interesting program. Throughout the history of music, performers have utilised a vast array of instruments to create different sounds. These range from ancient musical instruments invented thousands of years ago to modern sounds produced by computers and other technological devices.
This week we are presenting a variety of instruments featured in some of the great pop music songs of the fifties through the seventies. Each song has a different ‘sound’ produced by featuring a musical instrument. They will range from the talents of Jo Jo Zep on the Saxophone to Sandy Nelson, the pre-eminent pop drummer of the era, to the early use of strings in Buddy Holly’s ‘It Doesn’t Matter Any More’.
Unusual instruments are featured on the Beatles ‘Norwegian Wood’ (sitar) and the castanets used in Archie Bleyer’s ‘Hernando’s Hideaway’. One of the earliest performers to use the Moog Synthesizer was Del Shannon. His great hit ‘Runaway’ showcases this. As well we are having a Featured Album of the Paul Mauriat Orchestra and their version of ‘Mrs Robinson.
Hope you enjoy.
