Kisses
Hi Listeners
This week we are in a romantic mood. We will be playing songs with ‘kiss’ in the title. When you look at these titles there are different ways ‘kiss’ is defined. For example ‘Kissing Time’ by (surprisingly) Kiss, takes a humorous, ubiquitous view of kissing all over America. Jimmie Rodger’s sensuous ‘Kisses Sweeter Than Wine’ tells the age old story of how kisses can lead to further consequences.
The act of kissing itself is presented through many songs such as ‘Kiss You All Over’ (Exile), ‘Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me’ (Mel Carter) and ‘Then He Kissed Me’ (The Crystals). Brian Hyland’s popular ‘Sealed With A Kiss’ plays on the romantic situation of sending a letter to a loved one with the words SWALK (Sealed With A Loving Kiss) written across the seal of the envelope.Alas! Another forgotten romantic gesture of those days. Kissing can be the start of something ‘Til I Kissed You’ (Everly Brothers) or the end of something ‘Kiss Me Goodbye’ (Petula Clark) and ‘One Last Kiss’ by Crash Craddock from the musical ‘Bye Bye Birdie’.
