New music to weekdays (17 August, 2016)
Aus Flag Icon Katy Steele Where’s the Laughter (CREATE/CONTROL)
Aus Flag Icon Jess + Matt Bones (SME)
Aus Flag Icon Jessica Mauboy Risk It (SME)
Danny L Harle ft. Carly Rae Jepsen Supernatural (SME)
Hayley Kiyoko Gravel to Tempo (ATL/WMG)
Anne-Marie Alarm (Cahill Edit) (ATL/WMG)

Kicking off our new music this week is former lead singer of Aussie band Little Birdy. Perth-based singer-songwriter Katy Steele is making her own way, and her unmistakable voice shines through on her debut solo single, Where’s the Laughter.

Runners-up on X Factor Australia 2015 Jess + Matt are back with their second single, Bones.

Aussie superstar Jessica Mauboy is about to hit our television screens in a new miniseries for the Seven Network, The Secret Daughter. The accompanying soundtrack album has Jess peforming 12 covers, ranging from Cold Chisel’s ‘Flame Trees’ to Soft Cell’s ‘Tainted Love’. It also contains five original tracks from Jess, including her latest single, ‘Risk It’.

Underrated Canadian pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen (of ‘Call Me Maybe’ fame) has teamed up with a little-known young British producer, Danny L. Harle, for Supernatural. We may have the biggest suprise hit of 2016 on our hands here.

American Disney actress and singer-songwriter Hayley Kiyoko is very much on the edge of queer – even if she’s not actually owning it as yet. A number of her songs have focused on same-sex attraction, including her latest, Gravel to Tempo, which she says comes from her personal experience as a teen coping with having crushes on other girls.

British singer-songwriter Anne-Marie hit the big time on the Aussie charts a few months back, with ‘Do it Right’ getting to #15 on our charts. Notably the video was filmed around the inner-northern suburbs of Melbourne. Her follow-up single, Alarm, is already top ten and we’ve gone the extra mile and locked in an excellent uplifting remix for your enjoyment.

Set your alarm and tune into Michael on the Six at Six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
