A kitchen table can be a prime vehicle for social change.  It is a social gathering point for communities, enabling everyone to talk, listen and share ideas on subjects of mutual interest.  There are no right or wrong ideas, and everyone's contribution is valuable.

The Kitchen Table examines issues important to the wider Australian community with a focus on minority groups, including the LGBQTI sector. A key focus of the program is to normalise the LGBQTI movement by showing how the minority group isn’t the only one battling prejudice or having to enter a David versus Goliath fight.

Hospitality and food were the chosen vehicles for discussion due to the personal journeys of the team and our encountering of marginalised groups along the way. Hospitality always seemed to be the 'go to' job for people who had been rejected by society due to a number of reasons but primarily learning difficulties or financial background.

There is a focus on the individual battles people go through from eating disorders to finding themselves and defining their character through hospitality.

We will also interview representatives from marginalised groups such as asylum seekers, food groups, religious groups, Victorian protest groups and explore their journeys.

The team is made up of people who are passionate about politics, news media and have an affinity for frank conversations over The Kitchen Table.
