Shuv’N Bananas: A celebration of Siobhan Fahey and early-years Bananarama

LuvShuvDimensions of Bananarama you might never have heard… and everyone’s favourite ex-member Siobhan Fahey and her epic journey from one all-girl band to another world record breaking all-girl outfit. From Shakespeares Sister and beyond as a solo artist, now reclaiming the moniker Shakespeares Sister (post-Marcella Detroit) and collaborating with a revolving door of the coolest people in music.

It all started in the early 1980s: three girls squatting in the Sex Pistols’ rehearsal space. Who would have thought they would become a formidable and lasting force in music and break world records?

Despite shambolic beginnings, Bananarama endeared themselves to fans the world over for their slick songwriting and infectiously fun mentality, philosophy and music savvy. They literally made history and to this day continue touring worldwide to rave reviews. Often underestimated, no one can deny their lasting effect on popular music. The Nana-that-got-away Siobhan Fahey went her own unique way and today we celebrate her sheer musical and lyrical genius.

By the end of this podcast your love of the ‘Nanas will be re-affirmed. And if you don’t yet, you will absolutely Luv Shuv. Mother, Ex-wife, Poet, Musician, Artist, Pioneer, Music Legend and Hot as @#$*!!! Enjoy. Thanks to Greg for the photograph. With love from Ross.
