Welcome to my Touch Of Pink blog page. Another mix of mostly new tracks tonight, including exciting offerings from The Saturdays, christian singer Amy Grant (from an album of her greatest hits remixed), vocal divas Martha Wash and Crystal Waters, and by no means last, Sinitta (glorious trash pop singer from the late 80’s, and daughter of mid 80’s disco diva Miquel Brown). And check out the new Demi Lovato song ft Cher Lloyd filmed at the LA Pride Parade.

My Single Of The Week is ‘Little White Lies’ by Florrie. She is a UK singer songwriter, and the track comes from her new EP called Sirens. She has been recording for the last 4-5 years, sort of light and breezy dance pop, good tunes, great voice, but she hasn’t yet had that big hit. Perhaps this’ll do it for her. You go girl!

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 6-7pm for a bakers dozen of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have I seen lately?

Film: The 2 faces of January: Based on the Patricia Highsmith novel, this was not as much fun as I was hoping for. It was a fairly clunky Agatha Christie type thriller with a rather uneventful resolution. I actually found it a bit boring in places.

2 out of 4

Film: Frank: I loved this film. It was a rather quirky mockumentary about a band (sorta like Talking Heads?) on the road to stardom, going off to the country to make an album. Over the course of about a year you got to enjoy the creative music processes and internal problems as 5 people try to distil everything into an album.

4 out of 5 (but possibly not for everyone)

Show: Matthew Mitcham’s Twists and Turns: Matthew Mitcham, after having written an autobiography now tries to turn it into a cabaret show. And he made a pretty good job of it. He had the help of an excellent pianist/backing singer, and an alter ago (played by London cabaret star, Spanky). 75 minutes of songs and athleticism (including a turn on the trampoline), and a good time was had by all.

4 out of 5
