What Have I seen recently ?

Film : Oceans 8 : It is what it is. A fun film about a jewellery heist from the Museum Of Modern Art during their annual gala ball. An amazing cast, celebrity cameos, fabulous frocks, amazing jewellery, there plots pretty light, the dialogue okay. We all enjoyed it but don’t expect too much.

Film : Disobedience : Brilliant drama set in the East London jewish community. 3 childhood friends (2 girls, 1 boy) get together for the funeral of one of the women’s father. It turns out that the two women had a childhood fling, and then the other women married the man, and the woman went to New York. When the two women see each other at the funeral sparks fly, and you know there’s going to be a rough road ahead. A must see. Really!

Film : The Bookshop : Slow moving film based on the book about a young lady who goes to a small village an opens a bookshop, but some of the locals aren’t too happy about this. Sounds a bit lame but it’s quite a nice film, with beautiful scenery and some good solid acting.

Film : Tea With The Dames : Wonderful film, with 4 real Dames, including Judy Dench and Maggie Smith, sitting around a table reminiscing about their life, loves and careers. It’s interspersed with some wonderful archival foot of their film and acting careers. A must for fans.

Film : Leisure Seeker : It all sounded good on paper, two older people go on a last time motor home trip to visit Hemingway House in the Florida Key’s. It can’t makes it’s mind up whether it’s a comedy or drama, and neither is quite successful. I was disappointed with this because I really wanted to like it. Or perhaps I am being a bit harsh.
