Jake’s Back With A New Single / Album / Memoir

Welcome to another A Touch Of Pink, your show for tracks with a fresh pop sound and an emphasis on GLBTI content/artists. Tonight all the tracks have GLBTI content.

So many new/great tracks tonight, including Jake Shears (I know, amazing, and wasn’t he great on Graham Norton Show last week? Perhaps a little over the top, loved the moustache, though), MNEK, Halsey, Hayley Kiyoko, Years & Years, Jess Glynne, and locally, Bastian & Lucie M, Peter Wilson and Sam Bluer.

TRACK OF THE WEEK : Jake Shears with ‘Creep City’ (what else could it be?)

At last he has some new (and solo) product, and although it takes a few listens, I now love it and can’t wait for the album (due 6th July). Also, his memoir, Boys Keep Swinging, is a really good read too. Lots of juicy bits. You know you want to get it. You won’t be sorry.

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from  6-7pm for a whole heap (as many as we can get through) of fun tracks. Your host will be Dick.

What Have I seen recently ?

Show : Oklahoma :  Another Production Company musical, an old one, but lovingly restored and performed with mucho gusto. And oh, all those wonderful songs. The singing was exceptional, as was the dancing. Couldn’t fault it. Looking forward to the next production, The Boy From Oz in August.

Filmed West End Play : Lady Windermere’s Fan by Oscar Wilde :  Not for everyone, but if you enjoy those old-fashioned comedies of manners, in the style of The Importance Of Being Ernest, you’ll love this. Actors included Jennifer Saunders and Samantha Spiro. Truly a treat for fellow thespians.

TOP FIVE VIDEOS FOR THIS WEEK

Sam Bluer : Shift (Melbourne lad with a great new choon)

Years & Years : If you’re over me (a little OTT, yes, really!)

MNEK : Colour (cute animated lyric video)

Hayley Kiyoko : What I need (another huge production)

Jess Glynne : I’ll be there (gorgeous voice and a beautiful song)

That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
