Been There Done That

18 Mar 2015

ASIO, Human Rights, Judge Kirby, St Patrick & Engineering Feats

Gay, History, Icons, Lesbian

Today we remember that Australia’s own ‘big brother’ spy organisation was formed in 1949 and that the new nerve-centre in Canberra cannot be occupied by ASIO as there are fears of foreign bugs being planted inside [even before they occupy].

We consider the fear of human races or groupings seen over the generations and how human rights have been elusive in past times.

We remember Australia’s own gay Judge, the Hon. Michael Kirby [birthday 18 March 1939] and his advocacy of human rights [not just gay rights].

It’s St Patrick’s Day on 17 March, and some more interesting people have anniversaries around this time.

Plus we discuss great feats of engineering, useless trivia and more.
