This week is NAIDOC Week, and we talk about the growth of indigenous communities in the fields of music, performance, art and more, and the annual celebration recognising their role in Australia.
We refer to 9 July 1900 when Queen Victoria signed the Royal Assent for the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900. The Rainbow Flag represents our community and the Aboriginal community is represented through their red, black and ochre flag.
Our community has been represented in film and Vito Russo told that story in The Celluloid Closet. Another stereotype gay was represented by gay David Hodo, the construction guy in Village People, & he was born on 7 July 1947
