Bad Bitches of History is BACK with Maria Lewis! Maria talks about the story of Katherine Johnson the African American physicist who is an American physicist, space scientist, and mathematician. She made fundamental contributions to the United States’ aeronautics and space programs with the early application of digital electronic computers at NASA. Known for accuracy in computerized celestial navigation, her technical leadership work at NASA spanned decades where she calculated the trajectories, launch windows and emergency back-up return paths for many flights from Project Mercury including the early NASA missions of John Glenn, Alan Shepard, the 1969 Apollo 11 flight to the Moon and continued work through the Space Shuttle program and on early plans for the Mission to Mars.

What is Girls Rock!:

Girls Rock! Australia (GR!A) is a national network of Australian girls rock camps, inspired by programs that developed in the USA and have since become a worldwide movement. Our mission is to empower girls and women, building self-esteem and confidence by amplifying their voices through music education and performance. GR!A is built on principles of access and equity, social action, empowerment and community spirit. By providing a positive, female-lead environment that offers musical instruction as well as a variety of workshops and performances, this program creates leadership opportunities, cultivates a supportive community of peers and mentors, and encourages social change and the development of life skills.
