Starting From Now : talking with Rosie Lourde & Julie Kalceff

BROADs Sonja Hammer chats to two of the women who are the power and brains behind,and in front of the screen,of the successful and well loved Women Who Love Women Aussie web series Starting From Now: Julie Kalceff and Rosie Lourde.

Julie Kalceff: ‘Julie Kalceff is a writer, director and producer who has worked in film and television for over 15 years. Julie is the creator, writer, director and producer of the international hit multiplatform drama Starting From Now, which has amassed over 25 million views. After securing screen agency funding for Seasons 4 and 5 both seasons were acquired for broadcast television in Australia on SBS2. Starting From Now has screened in festivals around the world, winning the Audience Award at the Mardi Gras Film Festival, 2016; Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series and Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series at LA WebFest, 2016; and Best Web Series at She Webfest, 2015.’ from Julie’s blog online.

Rosie Lourde: ‘Rosie Lourde works across several aspects of the film, TV and theatre industries. A 2011 graduate of the Actors Centre Australia full-time program, her screen credits include Underbelly Badness, Rake, The Navigator Film, online miniseries Restoration, Stephen Sewell’s Embedded and most recently Joel Edgerton’s Felony. Her stage credits include Singled Out, Small Poppies, Still Seeking, andThe Will. Rosie recently produced her first feature film Skin Deep,exploring how “two young women, struggling to face their paths, find the courage to “choose life” while they still can” which had its world premiere at the prestigious Austin Film Festival, Texas, where it was recognised with an official Honourable Mention.’ from  the SFN online site . Rosie of course plays Darcy Peters in SFN.

‘Starting From Now has amassed over 30 million views and has been watched in more than 230 countries. Seasons 4 and 5 were acquired for broadcast and screened on Australian television in March, 2016. SFN has been selected for festivals all over the world and won numerous awards. Starring Bianca Bradey, Sarah de Possesse, Rosie Lourde and Lauren Orrell, all five seasons of the series are currently available online
