Meet a Queer Scientist: Hans Peter Herewila

Medicine, Science & Medicine

LISTEN TO PODCAST NOW

Hans Peter Herewila is an Indonesian medical doctor who practices as GP but also works as a researcher in public health.

He studied in Indonesia and also completed a Masters in Public Health here at the University of Melbourne.  Peter has worked in Indonesia, India, and Malawi.
He is currently working as part of a team researching the equity of the Indonesian Universal Healthcare system and if it is meeting the needs of Indonesians in regional areas. Because of the conservative nature of parts of Indonesia this research excludes the experiences of LGBTIQA+, which means that they needs of this community are not being addressed.
I talked to Peter earlier this week about this research and also working as a gay man in Indonesia.
