INTERVIEW: Stuart Kollmorgen (Board Member) talks about the Victorian Pride Centre

David & Sue talk to Stuart Kollmorgen (Board Member of the Victorian Pride Centre) about progress and funding for the centre. The Victorian Pride Centre is an exciting initiate for Melbourne and is to be built in St Kilda. It’s being supported by local and state government but still requires community support as well. Stuart talks about the community supporters of the centre (including JOY) and explains a number of ways that you can invest financially in the new centre and other ways in which you can also support it and its operations. The centre’s website describes it as follows:

“The Victorian Pride Centre will be the iconic new home of Victoria’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex communities. The VPC will celebrate Victoria’s diverse LGBTQI community, paving new directions for its future and honouring its brave, and at times, difficult past. It will provide an uplifting expression of welcome, engagement and belonging.

Housing up to ten major resident organisations, while also providing flexible and multi-use spaces, a health service, library, training room, meeting rooms, a prayer room, café/bar, theatrette and gallery for use by smaller groups.

This space will also serve as a hub for LGBTI groups and organisations to share ideas and resources and to further their work in supporting equality, diversity and inclusion across the state.

The building is due to open in 2020.”
