INTERVIEW: Emily Milledge and Bailie Carson from the Production Company’s “Lazarus” #ListenNow

Emily Milledge (who plays Girl) and Bailie Carson rush in from rehearsals to talk to David & Sue about the Production Company’s “Lazarus” which premieres in Australia on Saturday, May 18th  and runs until 9th June at the Arts Centre Melbourne in the Playhouse Theatre. The musical was written by David Bowie & Enda Walsh and this it’s the first time it’s been produced in Australia. You can subscribe to the whole season or buy tickets for Lazarus on the Production Company website or the Arts Centre Melbourne site but hurry as it’s almost sold out.

Here are some of the show notes to whet your appetite:

Lazarus was the final project of David Bowie. First staged in New York in late 2015, Lazarus has enjoyed sell out seasons in New York and London. This will be the Australian premiere of the ground-breaking musical.

Featuring 18 David Bowie songs including Changes, Heroes and Absolute BeginnersLazarus is inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis – and the movie which also starred David Bowie. The story focuses on Thomas Newton, an alien, as he remains on earth, unable to die. We follow him during the course of a few days where the arrival of another lost soul might finally set him free.

The “Brilliant” (The Age) Chris Ryan, whose performance as Monty Navarro in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder wowed Melbourne last year, takes on the lead role of Newton. Iconic singer iOTA also joins the cast in the role of ValentineThe distinguished creative team is headed by Director Michael Kantor and Musical Director Jethro Woodward.
