We’re getting our Game On! all across Australia!

Welcome to Game On! A new sport show on JOY 94.9 on every Tuesday from 7-8pm.

This show is all about you and how you can get your game on! It’s about presenting you with stories of where sport is fun, safe, inclusive and welcoming for everybody in the Rainbow community, and where you can be your authentic self. We’ll also set you up for sporting success by covering nutrition, fitness and mindset so you can make an impact on the track, on the field, on the court, on the pitch and on the podium across Australia and even around the world!

On the show tonight, we are joined by Hayley Conway, CEO Pride Cup to share how Pride Cup is supporting the FIFA Women’s World Cup be inclusive of the Rainbow community through the Watch With Pride Parties. Kevin Kapeke, VicHealth Acting Manager Social Connection and Mental Wellbeing joins us to tell us how VicHealth is helping our youth get socially connected through sport rather than be digitally connected on their phones. 4 in 5 young people say being socially connected is important for their mental wellbeing – but research tells us they’re the loneliest generation. The Future Healthy initiative aims to support our young people (18-25) connect through free sporting activities across Victoria that are inclusive and tailored for the Rainbow community. We head to Western Australia to chat with Justin Barnes, President Team Perth about the thriving LGBTIQA+ sport scene in Western Australia. There are over twenty-three LGBTIQA+ sports clubs you can join from synchronised swimming, to triathlon to badminton to basketball. you name it – they’ve got it! Make sure to mark the month of November in your diary for an explosion of sporting activities and parties! (22:36)

And if you thought WA was the home of LGBTIQA+ sport – think again! We had to the Top End to chant to Jarrod Chakos, Top End Pride Committee Member. The team just held the amazingly successful Darwin Pride 2023 with four days of festivities. Sport was a major part of the event this year and the wonderful Top End Pride team of volunteers is proud of how sport is bringing the community together. (32:12)
