On 13 May 2015, City of Moonee Valley hosted the launch of Rainbow Stories in the Valley, stories of people in the community who identify as either lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ).
Before keynote speakers took to the podium we asked attendees what IDAHOBIT meant to them, how they were involved in the local community and what they were looking forward to seeing & hearing later in the event. These are their thoughts and stories.
The event coincided with International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (also known as IDAHOBIT (May 17). Local residents, members of council and supporters of those involved, joined together for the celebration.
JOY 94.9 thanks the City of Moonee Valley for inviting us to cover the event and being a part in Rainbow Stories in the Valley. We hope this is the start of some great collaborations between this progressive city council and Australia’s only GLBTIQ community radio station, JOY 94.9.
