Lefty Pinkoes

27 Aug 2014

Jack Charles

Aboriginal, Actor, Arts, Gay, GLBTIQ, Society & Culture

Jack Charles – theatre and film actor and Angel of Smith Street: this Lefty Pinkoes podcast features charming legend Uncle Jack Charles.

Emma and bryan talk to him about his amazing history: his time as a member of the Stolen Generations, his sexuality, his heroin addiction and cat burgular identity and how he became one of Australia’s greatest stage and scene actors. He also manages to blend in talk about sphincters; such is Uncle Jack’s charm.

He recently won a Helpmann Award and not long ago finished a Warner Bros. film with Hugh Jackman. *swoon!*

We dedicate this Lefty Pinkoes podcast with love and gratitude to Aunty Frances Bond – Ilbijerri Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Theatre’s longest-serving Director who recently passed away.
