MAD Wednesday’s Dean chats with Madeline Lloyd Webber about School of Rock, opening at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s this week.

Madeleine chased the stage rights after watching the film with her children, finally landing them after 6 years in 2012.  She fell in love with the film finding it hilarious, charming, and above all very touching, celebrating the transforming power of music on young people was very close to her heart.

Tickets are onsale now for the production opening this Friday in Melbourne, and will hit Brisbane and Sydney in 2019.

Based on the iconic, hit movie, this irresistible new musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a supply teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight –A pupils into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents and the school’s headmistress finding out?

With a fantastic cast of very talented children, this is one musical not to miss!
